Visualizing the Life You Want
I’d like to talk about a fun topic today, visualization. And by visualization, we are talking about the pictures in your mind. After the hit movie The Secret, visualization became a big topic and it is a very interesting one indeed. Visualization is a tool one can access to build the images of the life you want. You still need to be in motion to have it come to you. Visualization can help create inspiration to action.
When I studied the work of Bob Proctor, Bob would always say, you build the image in your mind of what you want. Bob was referring to us being creative beings. We have the ability to create. And we create with our minds and the more concise and detailed image we have, the better it is. And our thoughts are vibrations, and these vibrations attract with like vibration. Albert Einstein said “everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want, and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way.”
When I hear just picture it in your mind, then it will happen. Basically, they are saying tune into the frequency and match up to it. You do it through images.
This is one of those topics that has a lot depth to it when you start getting into it. We think in pictures, and we are being of energy, and that energy has a frequency to it. When we tune into the frequency, we begin to attract to things on that same energy.
I think one of the best pieces on this is by Genevieve Behrend in her book Order of Visualization. I think she sums it up well when she says, “The exercise of the visualizing faculty keeps your mind in order, and attracts to you the things you need to make life more enjoyable in an orderly way. If you train yourself in practice of deliberately picturing your desire and carefully examining it, you will soon find your thought and desire come and proceed in more orderly procession than ever before. Having reached a state of ordered mentality you are no longer in a constant state of mental hurry. Hurry is fear and consequently destructive”.
How great is that, she is into putting your mind in order, and thus eliminating fear, and she is saying you can do that through visualization.
She continues on saying, “ In other words, when your understanding grasps the power to visualize your heart’s desire and hold it with your will, it attracts to you all things requisite to the fulfillment of that picture by the harmonious vibrations of the laws of attraction. You realize that since Order is Heaven’s first law, and visualization places things in their natural element, then it must be a heavenly thing to visualize”
I love this part; she brings the use of the will. One our mental faculties. Get your picture in your mind and hold it there with your will. Very powerful! And finally she says, “Everyone visualizes, whether they know it or not. Visualizing is the great Secret of Success. The conscious use of this great power attracts to you greatly multiplied resources, intensifies your wisdom, and enables you to make use of advantages which you formerly failed to recognize.”
Wow, what a powerful statement. The big thing for me is that we think in pictures. As she said we are doing it whether we know it or not. Why not make conscious use of our power to visualize. It’s in the application, visualization is a lot like meditation. You need a quiet place to relax, close your eyes and begin to visualize the things you want. Be creative, build the images of what you want, no matter how unrealistic they may seem to you.
It has been said, if you can picture it in your mind, then you can hold it in your hand. Visualization is a tool that can help anyone, it is free, and completely up to the creator. One of tricks to visualizing is to get emotionally involved with the images you are creating. Can you really feel the picture you create? If it is a new car, how does it feel to drive it. If it is a vacation, how does it feel to be there. Adding the emotion makes it not only enjoyable, it triggers the deep subconscious mind to take notice of the picture. And through the help of the subconscious mind, many things start to help that picture become a reality.
For the workshop today, let’s practice the creative process of visualization. Let’s get a little committed with this and set a 21 day program where you visualize at least once a day for 10-20 minutes on something you want to be, do or have. For those that are super ambitious, go for 3 times a day, morning, noon, and night. Remember, be relaxed, and do your best to add emotion to the images you create. The more detailed the image with emotion, the better it will be. And here is one more piece to this. Notice the actions you take after you visualize. See how the picture helps create the steps that keep you in a positive forward moving motion.
If you have goals, and things you are specific about, running visualizations will definitely help you. If you can get emotionally involved, it will aid you in feeling good about what you are doing. And feeling good is a big part of the process.
Enjoy this exercise, it is fun, and it is good for your brain to visualize. The more you do it, the better you will get at it, and it will aid in the direction of your goals and dreams.
